A Few Of My Favorite Health Websites

Top 4 Sources for Fitness and Health Information Online

There are a ton of sites on the crazy world wide web to go to for health information.  And like everything else online, there’s no telling what quality of information you’ll across.   So I thought I’d give you a few websites and people that I like to follow and visit when I need to find out the answers to health questions.

A Doctor’s Website…

Dr. Mark Hyman, drhyman.com, has been talking about inflammation being an issue in the body for years.  I read a book he wrote talking about inflammation years before I had heard of it anywhere else.  Dr. Hyman is a proponent of eating healthy fats and removing processed foods, sugar, and hydrogenated fats. As his site says; “he is dedicated to tackling the root causes of chronic disease by harnessing the power of Functional Medicine to transform healthcare.”  His is a go-to site when I’m looking for one of the best sources of health information online.

Holistic Nutrition Consultant…

Dani at ancestral-nutrition.com is an interesting follow.  Dani is a Holistic Nutrition Consultant.  She has done a lot of research on natural ways to find good health using natural products that are better for you and the environment.  Right on her site she tells you she doesn’t sugar-coat her information and I enjoy that about her.  Dani is also known for her no-holds-barred deep dive reviews of nutritional and weight loss supplements found on the market. Good, bad or ugly, she lets you know!

Paleo Nutritional Information…

For Paleo information, I like to use balancedbites.com by Diane Sanfilippo.  This site has some of the best handouts for Paleo information I have found.  And they’re free!  Her site includes shopping lists by stores, recipes, of course, and  podcasts from adrenal fatigue to women’s health and hormones.  There are four books, 250 podcasts, and over 400 recipes found on this one great health information website.  Great place to get anything Paleo.  If you’re a veteran to Paleo or a newbie, I would bookmark this site as a place to get new ideas and information you need to be successful!

Health Information Statistics…

If you’re looking for stats for a report or talk, I use stateofobesity.org/rates/.  This site breaks down obesity rates and trends by state.  You will not only find obesity rates but information on diabetes, hypertension, physical inactivity and health care costs.  They will breakdown obesity rates by socioeconomics, age groups, race, and ethnicity.  You can then look at individual states to dive in deeper into their stats.   Every time I visit this site, I am surprised by the numbers and think all citizens should be aware of what’s going on in their state in terms of health and obesity.  Just take a look and then find out how you can make a difference in your community.

We are all aware that there is a ton of health and fitness information online. Some of it is amazing and helpful, some is just plain crazy and some is downright dangerous.  Remember!  Just because you read it online doesn’t mean it’s true!  Check the source and if it seems to be too good to be true….

Happy web surfing!
